Steps to Do Hot Oil Treatment:

1.) Wash your Hair to Do Hot Oil Treatment

For the best results wash your hair before beginning with the hot oil treatment. Wash your hair thoroughly with running tap water and use a mild or herbal shampoo. Remember that you are washing your hair just to clean them. So avoid the conditioner. Unwashed hair is greasy and has pollutants so it’s important to shampoo your hair before the treatment. Just shampoo and you are done. After washing your hair let them dry. Do not use a blow dryer to dry them.

2.) Warm a Base Oil to Do a Hot Oil Treatment

To do a hot oil treatment you can use any of the base oil like coconut, olive or almond. For best results heat the oil in the microwave for a few seconds. Make sure that you use microwave proof bowl for this purpose. To make this treatment effective you can add a few drops of essential oils like lavender, peppermint oil, jasmine oil or any other oil that you prefer. The other way to heat the oil is, in a big bowl pour warm water and place small bowl containing oil into it. If your hair are thin and you are experiencing hair fall then you can add a few drops of castor oil also to it. To treat dandruff you can add lemon juice to it before applying. Do not over heat the oil otherwise you won’t be able to apply it.

3.) Massage to Do a Hot Oil Treatment

Once your hair is completely dried, comb them and remove all the knots. Then begin applying the oil. Once the oil is warm enough, dip your fingertips in the bowl and apply the oil on the scalp. While applying the oil move your fingers in the circular motion. However, do not put force on your fingertips. This will improve the blood circulation. Massage it until the all the oil is absorbed then again repeat this. In similar way apply the oil on the entire head. After applying the hot oil on the scalp, apply the left over oil on the length of the hair. You do not have to apply the oil on the length in the bulk. Take some oil in your palms rub it and apply it on the length of your hair. Make sure you do this with a light hand otherwise the chances of hair fall will increase. At last wipe the left over oil with your ends of the hair, since they are most malnourished and thus lead to split ends.

4.) Tie your Hair

Once you have applied the oil into your scalp and hair thoroughly make a bun or braid your hair if you have long hair. For small hair ponytail will do. Do not comb your hair after oiling them, this will lead to hair fall. In any way make sure that you do not leave your oily hair loose since oily hair attracts dust and pollutants. So tie them. Also, do not tightly tie them. Use a good quality elastic band to tie them.

5.) Wrap a Hot Towel to Do a Hot Oil Treatment

The hot oil treatment is incomplete without the hot towel. In a bucket take some hot water. Dip your clean towel into it and squeeze the extra water from it. Tie the same towel on your head covering all the hair. Wrap it like a turban. Leave it on until it cools down completely. This will help the oil to absorb nicely. Or simply wrap your hair with a clean towel and then insert the nozzle of the blow dryer in the towel and switch it on. The warm air of the blow dryer will work like a hot towel. Repeat this for a few minutes and then wash your hair. Do this treatment once in a week.
